After a long sizzling summer, Fall is finally here. I know for many of us in the Midwest this beloved
season means the beginning of traditional gatherings with friends and family. A kickoff to the upcoming
holidays, if you will, and a time to start your seasonal decorating. Remember - the sky is the limit!
A Thanksgiving centerpiece does not have to be complicated. Start by placing candleholders of varying
heights up and down your table or sideboard. Intertwine evergreen branches, or garland with pinecones
around the pillar candles. Next, add a few faux branches of fall leaves, eucalyptus, or pop in stems of red
berries for color. Small gourds scattered throughout will add color and texture to your centerpiece. If I
am entertaining for the holidays, I like to experiment weeks ahead, so I set the table first to see how
much room I will have to work with.
If "casual country" or "farmhouse chic" happens to be your decorating style, use faux birch candles or wooden candle holders in varying sizes. To dress up your holiday table with a bit of glam or sparkle, use glass or crystal candle holders.
This centerpiece will take you through Thanksgiving and into Christmas. Simply remove the fall leaves from the evergreen garland, then add magnolia stems or holly branches. For added height and color tuck in pots of blooming amaryllis, or narcissus bulbs.
